Sebastião Neves

Sebastião Neves is an antiques valuer and restorer, or in his own words: a guardian of our heritage.

He started his professional activity in 1988 at Gallery 230. In 1992 he set up on his own, specializing in antiques and works of art, expanding his activity in 1996 to include valuations and working with some of the largest private collections in Portugal.

In 2008 he joined APA (Associação Portuguesa de Antiquários/ Association of antique dealers) and, with two partners, opened António Costa Antiguidades, a restoration workshop in the centre of Lisbon. In 2021 he was elected to APA’s board.

Sebastião is a well known art valuer of Portuguese paintings and brings to the stage his passion for the history behind each piece of art, how it integrates in the rich tapestry of Portuguese history, and the artist behind it.

Comecou a sua actividade profissional em 1988 na Galeria 230. Em 1992, establece-se por conta própria, especializando-se em antiguidades e obras de arte, expandindo a sua actividade em 1996 a incluir avaliações e trabalhando com algumas das maiores colecoes privadas em Portugal.

Sebastião é um conhecido avaliador de arte portuguesa e traz para o palco a sua paixao pela história por trás de cada objecto e seu autor e como estes integram a complexa tapeçaria da historia portuguesa.
