Nuno Correia
Nuno is a Mechanical Engineer with a PhD in Engineering Sciences from the University of Nottingham. He has worked on applied research since 1998 and has experienced living and working in Porto, Nottingham (UK), Eindhoven (The Netherlands) and Newark in Delaware (USA).
Nuno manages the largest Portuguese research group in Advanced Composite Materials, with more than 100 collaborators, and has been part of technology transfer projects in aeronautics and space, energy applications ranging from photovoltaics to hydrogen, novel automotive technologies, and artificial intelligence applications to digital transformation and industrial sustainability.
As well as being the unit director for composites at INEGI in Porto, he co-created and is a member of the board at INEGI Alentejo, a new research institute which associates INEGI and the University of Évora to serve the industry of that region. Nuno also serves as an Industry Rapporteur with the European Defence Agency, is an evaluator with the European Commission, and was nominated for the European Inventor Award in 2022 for his work on renewable energy systems.
Nuno has always been passionate about science, technology, and engineering. He has also a keen interest in history, philosophy of science and the arts. He lives in Aveiro and is the father of one girl and two boys.

Nuno é Engenheiro Mecânico com um doutoramento em Ciências da Engenharia pela Universidade de Nottingham. Trabalha em investigação aplicada desde 1998 e tem experiência de vida e trabalho no Porto, Nottingham (Reino Unido), Eindhoven (Holanda) e Newark em Delaware (EUA).
Nuno gere o maior grupo de investigação português em Materiais Compósitos Avançados, com mais de 100 colaboradores, e tem participado em projectos de transferência de tecnologia em aeronáutica e espaço, aplicações energéticas que vão desde a energia fotovoltaica ao hidrogénio, novas tecnologias automóveis e aplicações de inteligência artificial à transformação digital e sustentabilidade industrial.
Para além de ser o diretor da unidade de compósitos do INEGI no Porto, co-criou e é membro da direção do INEGI Alentejo, um novo instituto de investigação que associa o INEGI e a Universidade de Évora para servir a indústria daquela região. Nuno é também Relator da Indústria na Agência Europeia de Defesa, é avaliador na Comissão Europeia e foi nomeado para o European Inventor Award in 2022 pelo seu trabalho em sistemas de energia renovável.
Nuno sempre foi um apaixonado pela ciência, tecnologia e engenharia. Tem também um grande interesse por história, filosofia da ciência e artes. Vive em Aveiro e é pai de uma rapariga e dois rapazes.
